Communication is Key!

Communication is Key!

From parents to administrators, fellow teachers to students themselves, how we share information is almost equally as important as what we share.

Students

Let's be honest; kids, like us, like to hear how awesome they are in meaningful and truthful ways.  These positive Notes Home are adorable, tailored to music classes, and highly efficient!

When you spot a kiddo being their awesome selves, simply take a note, mark what they've done, write their name, & send it home!  In addition to creating a complementary classroom community, these go home & bring joy to...

Parents

Sometimes parents communicate when their child will be absent.  Sometimes, not. clear communication tools are an absolute MUST!! I'm obsessed with these Please Do pages.

With a woodland theme, there are slips to prompt kids to finish their work, make corrections, and even ones to acknowledge their absence when asking students to finish their assignment.

It's important to be consistent with parents.  I've taught in schools where parents viewed school as nearly-free daycare and were anything but involved, then also taught in schools were parents were highly invested and utterly intense!  Both required consistent communication.

Administration

Do your supervisors or administrators expect you to Track behavior, log unfinished worksheets, or even allow kids the opportunity to recognize & identify why they weren't able to finish?

Be an effective communicator with Work Completion Communication cards.

 - it's great for Social Emotional learning!  After all, when students connect to curriculum, it's always better!
